TECHNOLOGY FOR BIOLOGICAL
WASTE RECYCLING, INCLUDING THE ANIMAL HUSBANDRY WASTES
Plitman V. L., CJSC «EKORM», Chelyabinsk,
Russia
EKORM has proposed the technology for agricultural
and food industry waste processing using the extrusion method for the
following types of waste:
agricultural wastes of any origin, including dead animals and
slaughter-house wastes;
poultry, pig-breeding, fishing and animal husbandry wastes;
wastes of different crops, including spoiled or overmoistered wheat (or
grain).
Food proteins additives for poultry and domestic animals are produced as a
result of extrusion.
At present, a special technical process is used to treat organic wastes which
are not allowed to be disposed of at burial sites. It includes the long term
(4-5 hours) boiling under very high temperature of 120-140C at 0,3-0,4 MPa
pressure. It is done in special types of boilers (named LAP'S boilers) and
includes boiling, sterilization and drying. Under rather strong requirements
it provides a sterilized product meat-bone powder, but the quality of the
product is low due to low protein content. This is considered to be very old
fashioned technology, both expensive and ecologically dangerous.
EKORM proposes a technology for biological waste processing. Dry extrusion
method is the basis of the technology itself. The only source of heat is
friction. The process itself takes no more than 30 seconds. During this
period, raw materials undergo several stages of processing: heating,
sterilization, disinfection. The use of vegetation material is the necessary
requirement (grain, bran etc.). Due to the unique combination and mixture of
temperature, pressure, time factor, processing of the product by extrusion
method etc., we get a sterile protein additive. Final product can be produced
in different forms powder, granules etc. It can be used both as a full
separate product and as an additive to different ration.
The product has the following characteristics:
moisture no more than 12%;
proteins 14-2% (it depends on the type of wastes and plant additive);
expiry date-no more than 6 months in sacks:
bacteria infectiousness usually less than 10000 units (under accepted
standard 500000 units)
exchanging energy 290310 large calories in 100g of the product.
The product application has proved successful in various fur animal farms,
poultry farms, pig-breeding farms and fishing farms.
Special attention should be paid to high level of assimilability (25-30%
compared to the traditional fodder). There is no need in additional energy
sources such as gas, water, steam etc. No drying is required. Only electricity
supply is necessary.
The process is ecologically safe. There are no exhausting wastes or smells
accompanying traditional waste processing in Laps boilers.
There are many production lines developed by EKORM and operated in various
regions of Russia and Belarus. They are installed at poultry farms, meat
processing and production plants etc.
The company manufactures equipment of any production capacity by the customer
order, guarantees assembly and personnel training.
The space requirement is insignificant.
The technologies and delivered production lines are protected by the patents
of Russia, Kazakhstan, and patenting process is underway in Ukraine and
Belarus.
